Clubs/Groups/Community Information

 

On the 23rd of May at 10:30 there will be a cake decorating class for beginners.  Learn on real cakes, (provided)how to ice it smooth without crumbs, make a cute pattern with a paper towel,bags of icing are provided to make simple flowers,  make a baby cake with Twinkies and learn about how to make icing that isn't messy.  Wow your family with your talent.  Taught by Barbara (ex-Wilson teacher) 480-459-5047 for questions.  Sign-up in the association office today!

 

 

It’s time to start thinking about your Fall Garden.  Master Gardner Roylee Brown has agreed to visit SVE in June to discuss Great Beginnings:  Unique considerations for gardening in the Valley of the Sun.”  If you are interested in attending a Master Gardner seminar in June, please rsvp to this e-mail.  We’d like to see at least 10 people respond before we schedule an actual date.

Bingo is played every Sunday evening, beginning at 6:45 pm, in the SVE Auditorium.  No person under the age of 18 may purchase packets, play games or claim prizes.  Prize money will vary during the year based on attendance.  Sunland Village East Bingo is played in accordance with the Arizona State Revenue rules and regulations, which are available on the premises along with the prominent display of the SVE Bingo license.  The SVE Bingo Committee Thanks You for Playing "Bingo" with us!  For more info, contact the Bingo Committee:  480-986-9822 - or - 480-313-7033.  Come enjoy friends, fun and new games.  The snack bar will now have hot dogs for sale every Sunday.

Caterers Any onsite, catered event in an association building requires that the caterer turn in a business license and proof of insurance to the association office.  Please call the office for those catering companies who have already provided the necessary information, or ask your preferred caterer to submit the information to the association office prior to your scheduled event.

 

Civil War Group - Come join us Thursday, June 7, at 6:00 p.m. in the Saguaro Room.

 

Club/Activies Coordinators New club bulletins are needed for the club bulletin board located just outside the association office.  Club bulletins must be ½ page or less in size.  Please turn updated bulletins into the front office for posting.  Information may include summer/winter hours, contact person and description of club/activity.

 

Coordinators Meeting Meetings are the 4th Thursday of every month in the Mesa Verde Room at 9:00a.m.  All club and activities presidents, coordinators are encouraged to attend.  There will be no meeting in June, July and August.

 

Computer Club Our Computer Club season has come to the end.  We have had a successful season with all kinds of learning opportunities from a large array of presenters.  We are anxiously planning for our next season with lots of surprises for our members.  Our Fix-It Tuesdays will continue thru June 5th in our training lab from 1-3. Computer Class Anyone interested in a free computer maintenance and operational instruction class…”computers for dummies” please contact Levern Swenson at 480-220-1517.  NO COMPUTER CLASS FOR “DUMMIES” until the first Thursday in September.

 

Couples Golf meets in the Auditorium from 5:00p.m.-6:00p.m. every Friday night for a social. 

 

Court volleyball – will resume in October, 2012.  every Monday through Saturday from 8:00a.m. to 9:00a.m. (October – April Only)  The court is located behind the South pool complex.  All are welcome.  Monthly Socials:  1st Monday of every month in the Mesa Verde Room from 5:00-8:00p.m.

Scrabble Players – Anyone, whether a permanent or winter resident who is interested in joining a group of Scrabble players, is welcome to join us when we play Tuesday afternoons at 1:00p.m.  Since we just have a small group, we meet at one of three homes.  We play for the challenge and the fun, so don’t be intimidated, even if you haven’t played for a while.  We would love to have more players.  If you have questions please call Marilyn Glosgoss at 986-4632 and then just show up, and join us as we try to sharpen our skills.

 

Summer Softball  Yes, there is summer softball going on each week in the Village.  Every Tuesday and Thursday, and it is open to all, with batting practice starting at 6:30 a.m. and games starting at 7:00-7:15 a.m. (so we can minimize the summer heat issue) and usually end around 9:00-9:30 a.m.  All skill levels and genders are welcome.  Remember to bring some water!

---- The combination locks for the Auditorium, Mesa Verde, Rosewood and Oakwood rooms will be changed, effective Friday, June 1st.  If you meet in one of those rooms on a weekly basis and use the combination lock to enter, please stop in the association office to obtain the new codes.

 

---- The Association office will be closed on Monday, May 28th in observance of Memorial Day.  We will reopen on Tuesday, May 29th.

There will be no coffee and donuts on Monday, May 28th

 

 

--- You can still drop off non-perishable food items in the Activities Office for the United Food Bank.

McDowell Casino Trip Sign-up – Tuesday, May 22nd departs at 10:00a.m. from the North parking lot where the U.S. Mailbox is located.  $2.00pp (minimum of 18 people required to receive $10 in crown credits)  Bingo session begins at 12:30p.m., departs Ft. McDowell at 4:00p.m. Sign up in the association required. 

 

·      May 24, 2012 – (Thursday) – Deco Bingo – Auditorium $5pp.  Food Service 6:00p.m.  Includes a bowl of vanilla ice cream and a limited assortment of toppings.  Bring a deck of cards.  Deco Bingo starts promptly at 6:30p.m.  Tickets available in the association office only.  No refunds.

·      May 12, 2012 – (Saturday) – Movie & Mixer – “Hugo” 1 & 7:00p.m. Auditorium.  No cost for the movie, but tickets are required for admission.  Only 150 tickets available.  Free will donations are appreciated to cover the purchase of this and future DVDs.  Concession items available.

 

·      May 15, 2012 – (Tuesday) – Chocolate Chip Cookie Day – Starts at 9:00a.m.  Visit the association office for a freshly baked cookie. 

 

·      May 15, 2012 – (Tuesday) – Ladies Luncheon – Cheesecake Factory, 1p.m.  Sign up required in the association office by Friday 11th.

 

·      May 16, 2012  - (Wednesday) – Salad, Spuds and Splits – Food Service 4:30-5:00p.m. in the SVE Auditorium.  $7.50pp  Tickets available in the association office only.  No refunds. 

 

·      May 19, 2012 – (Saturday)Community Potluck – Auditorium $4pp choice of ham or chicken.  Food Service 4:30-5p.m.

 

·      May 19, 2012 – (Saturday) – Movie & Mixer – “Beginners”  7:00p.m. Auditorium.  No cost for the movie, but tickets are required for admission.  Only 150 tickets available.  Free will donations are appreciated to cover the purchase of this and future DVDs.  Concession items available.

 

·      Ft. McDowell Casino Trip Sign-up – Tuesday, May 22nd departs at 10:00a.m. from the North parking lot where the U.S. Mailbox is located.  $2.00pp (minimum of 18 people required to receive $10 in crown credits)  Bingo session begins at 12:30p.m., departs Ft. McDowell at 4:00p.m. Sign up in the association required. 

 

·      May 24, 2012 – (Thursday) – Deco Bingo – Auditorium $5pp.  Food Service 6:00p.m.  Includes a bowl of vanilla ice cream and a limited assortment of toppings.  Bring a deck of cards.  Deco Bingo starts promptly at 6:30p.m.  Tickets available in the association office only.  No refunds.

 

·      May 24, 2012 – (Thursday)NO MEETING THIS MONTH Coordinators Meeting – 9:00a.m. Mesa Verde Room.  All group and club coordinators and activity directors are encouraged to attend.

 

·      May 26, 2012 – (Saturday) – Movie & Mixer – “My Week with Marilyn”  7:00p.m. Auditorium.  No cost for the movie, but tickets are required for admission.  Only 150 tickets available.  Free will donations are appreciated to cover the purchase of this and future DVDs.  Concession items available.

 

·      May 28, 2012(Monday)Memorial Day Sunset Service – Auditorium 6:30p.m.

 

·      May 29, 2012 – (Tuesday)Taco Tuesday – Auditorium $3.50pp  Food Service from 4:30-5:00p.m.  Tickets available in the association office only.  No refunds.

 

 

Club or group articles going to the Outlook should be sent to outlook@svehoa.com or dropped off no later than the 10th of June for the July edition of the Outlook newspaper.
