·        July 27, 2010 – (Tuesday) Ft. McDowell Casino trip – $3.00pp - 10:30 pick-up at the US Mailbox located at the north complex.  Return by 4:30p.m.  Includes $10.00 promo dollars for slot play.  Must be a member of the Fortune Club.  Bingo session available during visit.  Sign up in the association office.  No refunds.

·        July 28, 2010 – (Wednesday) Greek Monastery Tour  - $15.00 – depart 10:00a.m. return by approximately 3:00p.m.  There will be a stop at Mt. Athos Greek Restaurant in Florence.  Menu items start at $8.00 and go up.  Lunch will be at approximately 12:30p.m.  Dress code applies when visiting the Greek Monastery.  The monastery is located in Florence.

·        July 30, 2010 – (Friday) Friday Night Feature – Big Band – Free will donation.  Space is limited and is on a first come first served basis.  Small dance area available.  7:00p.m.-9:00p.m. BYOB

·        August 3, 2010 – (Tuesday) National Watermelon Day.  Get a slice of watermelon in the SVE Auditorium .50 cents a slice.  Food service from 11:30-12:15.  Sign up in the association office required.  No refunds.

·        August 4, 2010 – (Wednesday) National Chocolate Chip Day.  Stop by the association office from 8:00a.m. – 3:00p.m. and receive a complimentary chocolate chip cookie.  One cookie per customer.  Sign up not required.  

·        August 11, 2010 (Wednesday) – New Homeowner Orientation – 9:00a.m. Saguaro Room, includes a tour of the community.

·       August 12, 2010 (Thursday) – SVE HOA Board of Directors meeting Open Session 9:30a.m., Board meeting immediately following.  Auditorium.

·        August 13 (Friday) – Frankfurter Friday - $2pp includes hot dog, drink and chips.  Mesa Verde Room from Noon until 1:00p.m.  Tickets available in the association office.  No refunds.

·        August 17, 2010 – (Tuesday) – Ladies Luncheon – Red Lobster at 1:00p.m.  Sign up in the office by Friday, July 16  in the association office.

·        August 18, 2010 – (Wednesday) – Brown Bag Lunch and complimentary cupcake.  Bring your own lunch to the auditorium starting at 11:00a.m. until noon and celebrate national cupcake day.  Sign up required.

·        August 19, 2010 (Thursday) – Ice Cream Social – Deck-O-Bingo – 6:00p.m. SVE Auditorium $5.00 includes ice cream with limited toppings.  Bring a complete deck of cards to share.  Sign up in the association office.  No refunds.

·        August 20, 2010 – (Friday) – Mixer and a Movie – “The Searchers” John Wayne, 7:00p.m. SVE Auditorium - $1.00 includes popcorn and soda. 

·        August 21, 2010 – (Saturday) – Community Breakfast Potluck – Food service begins promptly at 7:30a.m. $3.00pp includes meat items and selected juices and coffee.  Residents will provide side dishes, salads, cereals...  Each food item should serve at least 8 people.  SVE Auditorium. Sign up in the association office.  No refunds.  Plates and flatware provided.   

 ·        August 26, 2010 – (Thursday) Coordinators Meeting, 9:00a.m. in the Mesa Verde Room. Formerly the President’s Club meeting, this is a great opportunity for an SVE club, group or activity coordinator to share information about what’s going on with other coordinators.  It is also a great opportunity to share ideas, and hear current information from the BOD that may directly effect your group.  Meets the 4^th Thursday of every month except in November and December.

OTHER Community Information 

NEW GAMES –

 - Rummikub (a game using tiled numbers) will start Tuesday, July 13^th from 9:00a.m.-10:30a.m. in the Mesa Verde Room.  Beginners welcome 

 - Farkle (a game using dice) meets Fridays from  9:30-11:00a.m. in the Card Room.  Beginners welcome.

Be a good neighbor – Prevent Crime

It has been reported that there are papers, etc., being left on driveways.  If you don’t want to encourage crime in your neighborhood, you should pick up the item/s and place them in a corner of the porch.  Walkers can also do a good deed by doing the same.

Mexican Train – is ongoing in the Auditorium every Tuesday starting at 1:00p.m. This is a spin on the parlor game dominoes.  New players welcome. 

The SVE Book Club will be reading “Last Dance at Jitterbug Lounge” by Pamela Morsi over the summer.  They will meet on Tuesday September 7^th at 10:00a.m. in the Saguraro Room.  All are welcome to attend.

Tennis News – Drop in tennis is available Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings starting at 7:00a.m. 

The north pools, spa and exercise complex will be closed until further notice.  We will notify you when the work is done and the north pool complex reopens.

Bus trips – If your club, group or activity has scheduled a bus for pick-up in the community, please let the Activities Director know to ensure there are no conflicts with the selected date or location of the pick-up. 

SVE Women’s Softball – Are you interested in playing softball?  We are putting together a team and are in need of a few more players.  Games begin in January 2011.  Please contact Barb 480-962-4979, Marlene 651-738-3807.
